Message from the President of the
Congress
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I am delighted to invite you to attend the Eleventh International Congress of
Toxicology (ICT XI) that will be held July 15 — 19, 2007, in Montréal,
Québec. The ICT XI scientific program is structured around the theme
of "Toxicology: Discovery Serving Society", emphasizing the role of toxicology as a scientific discipline for the betterment of humanity.
Eminent scientists from more than 50 countries will be gathering in
Montréal to present their research findings and discuss current topics
of interest to fellow toxicologists. The topics to be covered range from
mechanisms of teratogenesis and carcinogenesis, to the evaluation
of safety concerns regarding pharmaceutical products, food, and
environmental chemicals. Moreover, topics of broad interest such as the
public’s perception of toxicological diseases, and children’s toxicology
issues in developing countries will be discussed. Attendees can enroll
in professional development courses, and most importantly, will have
an opportunity to meet and share ideas with colleagues from around
the world.
The venue for ICT XI is the Palais des congrès, a modern, worldclass
convention centre located in the heart of a bustling and vibrant
downtown. From the Palais des congrès, visitors can easily access
four distinctive city districts: the Quartier international, Chinatown, the downtown business core, and Old Montréal. With its distinctive French
culture, celebrated cuisine, and acclaimed arts scene, Montréal is a
popular tourist destination. A friendly and dynamic bilingual city, there
are many attractions and activities for delegates and their families. To
help Congress attendees relax and really enjoy their time in Canada,
the Local Arrangements Committee has
prepared an exciting social program, as well as
arranging several interesting post-congress tours within and outside the
Province of Québec. July is especially a wonderful time to be in Montréal with
many outdoor events and warm weather contributing to a pervasive
‘joie de vivre’
I hope that you will join us in Montréal for ICT XI as we learn of the
latest advances in the toxicological sciences while celebrating the
thirtieth anniversary of ICT I, which was held in Toronto, Canada.
Mallé Jurima-Romet, Ph.D.
President, ICT XI
